A pairing between former lightweight and welterweight title challenger, the #3 ranked lightweight contender, Benson Henderson, and the #5 rated challenger, Peter Queally has been added to Bellator Dublin on September 23. from the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Henderson, who put pen to paper on a multi-fight deal with the organization following the completion of his contractual obligations back in January, most recently snapped his three-fight losing streak with a split decision victory against Islam Mamedov at Bellator 273 in January.

Last featuring in November in the main event of Bellator 270 at the same venue, Queally suffered a second round knockout defeat to Patricky Pitbull in a vacant lightweight title rematch. News of Henderson’s booking against Queally was first reported by The Sun reporter, Niall McGrath.

Henderson, a former UFC and WEC lightweight champion, had suffered a trio of defeats to Brent Primus, Jason Jackson, and former three-time lightweight champion, Michael Chandler prior to his judging victory against Mamedov.

For Queally, the Waterford veteran was slated to feature in the co-headliner of Bellator 275 last month in the capital, until a fractured rib suffered during preparation for a lightweight bout with Manchester native, Kane Mousah prevented his outing.

During his Bellator tenure, Henderson has amassed an even 6-6 promotional record – besting the likes of Adam Piccolotti, Saad Awad, and former two-weight champion, Patricio Pitbull.

Before his title challenge loss to Patricky Pitbull back in November, Queally had successfully landed an upset victory over the Brazilian champion on the main card of Bellator 258 back in May – landing a second round doctor’s stoppage victory after opening a massive cut on the now-champion’s hairline and face.

Amongst his other professional victories, Queally rallied to stop Ryan Scope with a massive comeback victory in September 2019, and has defeated the likes of David Khachatryan, Igor Egorov, and Decky Dalton.
