Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich-Berdon meet at UFC on ESPN+ 1:

Can Paige VanZant bounce back from her Flyweight debut loss?

 An interesting Women's Flyweight clash makes it's way onto the Ultimate Fighting Championship's premier event of 2019 and their ESPN network debut, as the exciting Paige VanZant features alongside The Ultimate Fighter competitor Rachael Ostovich on January 19th in Brooklyn. VanZant will return to the Octagon for the first time in a year, suffering a broken forearm on route to a decision defeat to Jessica Rose-Clark, while Hawaii prospect Ostovich will also enter the bout looking to return to winning ways after finding herself on the wrong side of the scorecards against Montana De La Rosa in July at The Ultimate Fighter finale. 

 VanZant, currently holding a 7-4 professional record has dispatched some noteworthy names in her tenure in the UFC, stopping Bec Rawlings, Kailin Curran, Alex Chambers and also nabbed a decision win over the recently rising Felice Herrig. "12 Gauge" garnered a huge following from her appearance on Dancing With The Stars in 2016, with the promotion looking to capitalize on her now enormous social media following, they pitted her against the highly dangerous and well rounded Michelle Waterson in a main event slot on Fox Sports. Within the opening three minutes, Waterson had taken Paige's back and locked in a tight rear-naked choke, with VanZant electing not to tap and subsequently go unconscious. Ranked #7 at the time of the clash, VanZant called time on her Strawweight career, moving to a more comfortable limit of 125lbs against the aforementioned Rose-Clark.



 TUF veteran Ostovich has also established quite a substantial following since her emergence into the promotion, making this clash hugely promotable for the organisation's bow on ESPN. The 27 year-old made good on her switch from Invicta FC to the UFC, submitting Karine Gevorgyan inside just two minutes. Failing to continue past the quarter final stage of TUF 26, Ostovich stopped Melinda Fábián before losing a one sided decision to Barb Honchak. With a predominantly Judo base, Ostovich faces a slick striker in VanZant, who has decent footwork stemming back to her dancing background in her teenage years. VanZant ultimately holds the trump card on the feet while her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt can certainly be tested by Ostovich if she can utilize her superior Judo prowess.
