Gardai launch Investigation Following Petrol Bomb Attack At Conor McGregor's Black Forge Inn

An Garda Siochana have launched an investigation following reports of an “attempted criminal attack” at The Black Forge Inn on Drimnagh Road, Dublin, last night, in which two petrol bombs were thrown at the venue. The public house is owned by former duel-weight UFC champion, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor.

Reports emerged this Thursday morning following an attack on The Black Forge Inn last night, in which two petrol bombs had been thrown at the Driminagh venue. Members of An Garda Siochana responded to reports that two pipe bombs had been left at the premises.

In an official statement release by An Garda Siochana, they appealed to any witnesses of the attack, confirming that no damage had been caused during the incident, after the petrol bomb, thrown at the rear of the venue failed to ignite. 

“Gardai are investigating an incident of attempted criminal damage at a licensed premises on the Drimnagh Road last night, Wednesday 12th January 2022. No damage was done to the premises,” An An Gardai Siochana statement issued read. “We are appealing for witnesses in relation to this incident to contact Gardai. We are particularly keen for anyone with camera footage from the area overnight to make this available. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crumlin Garda Station on 01 666 2000 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 11 or any Garda station.” 

The Black Forge Inn, situated on 163 Drimnagh Rd, Crumlin, in county Dublin, was purchased by Crumlin native, McGregor back in 2020 for a reported sum of €2 million, before undergoing extensive renovation and redesign, costing upwards of €1 million. 

McGregor, 33, recently had applied for and received approval from Dublin county council to build an extension to the rear of the venue, in order to facilitate a single-story canopied dining area, as well as a food preparation area. 

Dublin Live has reported, per sources, that the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion had been hosting a food tasting event at the venue during last night’s attack.

“There was also people allegedly spotted on scooters who passed the establishment at the time and next thing they were being chased by two others who had come out of the property. (Conor) McGregor had been holding a taste testing menu in the pub at the same time so the alleged attackers may have assumed he was inside.” 

McGregor last competed professionally back in July 2021 at UFC 264, suffering a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Dustin Poirier after fracturing his left tibia in the closing stages of the opening round.
