Dos Anjos V Alvarez: How it will go down

Arguably the biggest fight week in UFC history kicks off with current UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos hop wing for a second successful title defence against American Eddie Alvarez. Dos Anjos last fought beaten Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone to retain his title and make a huge statement by knocking out the fan favourite in just over a minute. Dos Anjos was then scheduled to defend his Lightweigt crown against Conor McGregor at UFC 196 but pulled out of the with just over 2 weeks to go. Dos Anjos suffered a broken metatarsal and subsequently spent some time on the sidelines. American Eddie Alvarez, a former two-time Bellator Lightweight champion comes into the fight with a huge win over former Lightweight champion Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis, winning by decision. Alvarez has finished 14 of his 27 wins in his career by knockout and will be hoping to add Dos Anjos to list. On the other hand, Dos Anjos, a third degree black belt in Brazilian Ju Jitsu isn't renowned for his huge knockout power winning the majority of his fight by decision. Dos Anjos unfortunately broke his metatarsal in the final minute of the final round in the final sparring session before his defence against McGregor and former opponent Nate Diaz stepped in and submitted the Featherweight Champion. It will be interesting to see how Eddie handles the high intensity and pace pushing style of Dos Anjos who will look to charge him down like he showed us in his title win against Pettis. I believe Dos Anjos adds Alvarez to his list of victories most likely by decision of quick KO.
