Flamboyant striker Edson Barboza takes on former StrikeForce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez in the co-main event of UFC on Fox. Barboza comes off a very important victory over former UFC champion Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis with the former champ Melendez coming off a loss to now UFC Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and has been sidelined since his anti-doping violation and looks to bounce back off a couple of losses with a win against Edson Barboza. The first round began with Barboza opening with decent strike. Barboza missed with a wheel kick. Melendez then countered with a good combination. Barboza then connected with his patented leg kick. The bell then sounded for the end of the first round. Round two seen Barboza stuff a takedown attemp from Melendez. Barboza then became the aggressor as he looked for his dangerous leg kicks. Barboza then from the top threw vicious hammer fists as the round came to an end. Barboza then began to find the target with his leg kicks. Barboza looked contempt to put point Melendez as he targeted his legs. The fight went to decision. Brazilian Edson Barboza won by decision after his leg kicks proved to be the diffence against the returning Gilbert Melendez.
