Holm V Shevchenko: How it will go down

Former UFC women's Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm takes on up and coming Kyrgyzstani naive Valentina Shevchenko as 'The Preacher's Daughter' looks to reclaim her title after one unsuccessful title defence. Holm last fought at UFC 196 in the co main event as she lost her title to Miesha 'Cupcake' Tate. Holm looked rather flat footed during the bout and never really put Tate under any pressure throughout before being submitted in the final round via a rear naked choke. Holm, is known for here extensive kickboxing back me puns and showed us her quality of striking when she handed 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey her first loss of their professional career. Holm managed to stay away and cleverly avoid Rousey's takedown attempts and had her in trouble from an early stage as Ronda tried to test her striking against Holms. Holms, then in the 2nd round recorded one of the best knockouts in UFC history when she threw a vicious head kick that slept Ronda. Valentina Shevchenko is also a fantastic striker with notable victories over Sarah Kaufmann and Jan Finney. Shevchenko's only losses in her career have come against former title challenger Liz Carmouche and newly crowned UFC women's Bantamweight Champion Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes. Another underestimated aspect of Shevchenko's game is her submissions with the former kickboxer holding more submissions than knockouts. Holm in my opinion similarly to Nunes will prove to be too much of a challenge for Holm who I believe will be back to her brilliant best against Shevchenko.
