Chael Sonnen contemplating a return to the octagon.
Former UFC top Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen is flirting with the idea of a return to MMA after his suspension for an anti doping violation officially ended last week. Speaking on Ariel Helwani's 'MMA Hour', Sonnen told how he was drafted into the USADA testing pool when he enquired if he could take a test to see if he is in fact clean. Sonnen told listeners how he has already carried out 2 drug tests but is still waiting on results to find out weather he his clean of any illegal substances. The 'American Gangster' last fought and lost to 'Suga' Rashad Evans in 2013 at UFC 167 before failing a random drug test before his scheduled bout against Brazilain Vitor Belfort, Sonnen failed the test due to the presence of human growth hormone, hCG and EPO and was handed a 2 year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Sonnen told how he would like to have the 'option' to step back into the octagon but the 39 year old underlined the steps ahead of him including that a negative drug test result must come back before he even thinks about a return from retirement. Sonnen would more than likely be gunning for a 3rd fight against his bitter rival Anderson 'The Spider' Silva with the GOAT holding two wins against one of the most controversial and polarising figures in all of mixed martial arts.
