Eddie Alvarez calls out Conor McGregor after UFC Lightweight title win.
Newly crowned Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez took no time in attempting to arrange his first title defence when after knocking out Rafael Dos Anjos, told how he believed Dana White should grant him an 'easier' 'gimme fight' against current UFC Featherweight Champion , Conor McGregor. Alvarez demolished Brazilian Dos Anjos in the first round of their title fight at UFC Fight Night 90. The former Bellator Lightweight king told how he has fought the best in the world and thinks he deserves an easier fight against McGregor and stated that the Dubliner had dodged some of the better fighters in the division to claim the title from José Aldo last December. This is a clever marketing ploy from Alvarez as whoever takes on arguably the biggest draw in the sport recieves a huge pay day regardless of result. McGregor must first see to his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on August 20th, then more than likely defend his title against the winner of José Aldo and Frankie Edgar on Saturday and yesterday he teased a trilogy of fights with Nate so Alvarez may have to find a challenger for his own title first, maybe in the form of Russian Sambo specialist Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson or a rematch with Rafael Dos Anjos.
