UFC 200 Fight Pass Prelims: What just happened.
Jim Miller V Takanori Gomi: Jim Miller and 'The Fireball Kid' Takanori Gomi met in the opening bout if UFC 200 in the Lighweight division. The first round began with the Japanese striker trying to close the distance on the American. Miller then got Gomi's back and looked to lock in a rear naked choke but Gomi escaped before Miller flattened the Japan native out and won via TKO from strikes.
Gegard Mousasi V Thiago Santos: Dutch kick boxer Gegard Mousasi took on powerful Brazilian Thiago Santos in the second fight of the monumental UFC 200. Mousasi surprisingly asked to fight Daniel Cormier after Jon Jones was pulled from the card but Dana White favoured Anderson Silva instead with Mousasi already booked for a fight. The first round started with both men cautious, Mousasi being aware of Santos' knockout power. Samoa tagged Mousasi with a good left hand as the Dutch man came rushing in. Mousasi was using his jab well to keep Santos at range, and began to tee off on the Brazilian really punishing the hard hitter. Mousasi then took his back and had him tight against the cage. Mousasi then landed a takedown and wound up in side control then found his way into half guard on his way into full mount. Santos then got it back to full guard but was dropped by the Dutch man on his way up and the #8 ranked middleweight ended the fight with a huge knockout.
Diego Sanchez V Joe Lauzon: The Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner Diego Sanchez took on submission specialist Joe Lauzon in the main event of the Fight Pass Prelims. Sanchez an iut and out brawler would look to keep this fight on the feet with Lauzon looking to utilise his submissions. Round one seen 'Nightmare' Sanchez looking to close the distance early. Sanchez landed a huge leg kick. Lauzon managed to score 2 knockdowns early on as Sanchez looked to be on Queer Street as referee Mark Smith stepped in and gave Joe Lauzon his 12th finish in UFC history.
