José Mourinho's unveiling: What just happened.
José Mourinho was unveiled to the mass media and fans on Tuesday morning at 11pm. The former Chelsea man will look to ensure stability and gain a top four finish for the Premier League club. This season, former Madrid man Mourinho will reignite his rivalry with Pep Guardiola who takes the reigns at cross town rivals Manchester City.
Mourinho quickly stated how he wanted to be at United and it was the perfect time in his career to move to Old Trafford and how he wanted to be remember as s success in Manchester. Then he outlined how he was disappointed that the club would be without Champions League football but hoped to make it right by the end of the season. Mourinho then said how we should not hide behind 'philosophies' maybe like Louis Van Gaal did during his time at Old Trafford, he also stated that he wanted to 'win' and not just achieve a top four finish. Mourinho also told how he's still young and didn't want to be happy with just a fourth place finish and an FA cup like LVG was. He also talked about targets, stating that he and Ed Woodword are working on a 4th signing and how they may bring in another if the market allows. When questioned about Wayne Rooney's position, he indicated that he will still feature as a 'number 9,10 or 9.5' and under him 'never as a 6'. He told how Fergie's advice was very important to him and praised Ryan Giggs for his honestly and wished him luck in his further endeavours.
