Barboza V Melendez: How it will go down

UFC Fight Night Chicago's co main event sees the return of former Lightweight king Gilbert Melendez after being suspended for taking PEDS before his UFC 188 fight against Bobby Green. The former StrikeForce champ takes on exciting Brazilian Edson Barboza. Barboza is coming off a fantastic victory over former UFC Lighweight champion Anthony Pettis winning via decision. The Brazilian utilises his thunderous inside and calf kicks and last used them brilliantly against Pettis in their 3 round bout. Barboza also possesses one of the quickest switch kicks in the UFC and uses acrobatic wheel kicks and spinning back kicks. Barboza holds arguably the greatest knockout in UFC history when his lighting fast wheel kick starched Terry Etim. Melendez has only 1 win in his last 4 fights losing to now Bellator man Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis and most recently, newly crowned UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez. It will be interesting to see how Melrndez will look after his long lay off from the fight game, especially against a man as explosive and accurate as Edson Barboza. In my opinion Barboza takes this fight for me more than likely a decision win but will most definitely utilise his superior kicks and accuracy.
