Who does Joanna Jedrzejczyk face next?
Polish striker Joanna Jedrzejczyk displayed a striking clinic against Brazilian Claudia Gadelha when the two fought last night for the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship. Gadelha landed two knockdowns against the Pole and scored many take downs as she won the first two rounds. We then seen an absolute masterclass in striking from Jedrzejczyk as the precise hitter won the last 3 rounds to defend her title winning by unanimous decision. With practically the entire division slayed, I look at who Joanna could take on next.
Carla Esparza: The inaugural UFC Strawwieght champion. Carla Esparza could be the women to take the title away from Jedrzejczyk. Esparza and Jedrzejczyk has met before with Joanna winning the Strawweight title from the American via a 2nd round knockout. Esparza holds victories over Rose 'Thug' Namajunas and 'Rowdy' Bec Rawlings in her career and a second chance at the Pole could be enough for her to reclaim the title.
Rose Namajunas: American striker Rose Namajunas could be argued as the toughest opponent for Joanna as the American born aggressor holds a black belt in both Taekwondo and Karate and holds a victory over the impressive Tecia Torres and the promising Paige van Zant.
Claudia Gadelha: Who Wouldn't like to see these two warriors battle for a third time, the only problem is Gadelha, in my opinion must fight maybe Tecia Torres or Karolina Kowalkiewicz before taking on Joanna for their third bout. A win against either of these women would draw more money for the UFC rather than just letting them fight again, particularly with Claudia coming off her second loss to Joanna. Joanna was pushed to the limit in both her fights with Gadelha and I believe if the Brazilian can work on her cardio we may see her win the title. Claudia looked exhausted towards the end of last nights fight but some of her tiredness could be attributed to Joanna's front kicks to her body.
