Amir Khan calls for MMA bout with Conor McGregor.

Former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has called for a MMA bout with current UFC Featherweight Champion 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor. Khan last fought and lost to 'Canelo' Alvarez and Irish born McGregor is also coming off a defeat to American Nate Diaz. Recent rumblings in the media suggested that 49-0 Floyd 'Money' Mayweather may be drawn out of retirement with a superfight against McGregor, those rumours have substantially settled down and it now looks as if British boxer Amir Khan is looking to broaden his horizons. Interestingly, Khan told how he would 'definitely' step into the Octagon against McGregor, with Mayweather declaring that if the pair ever met, it must be in a boxing ring. Khan admitted that he would need a years training for the bout, but one year isn't going to change a mediocre boxer into a capable mixed martial artist in my opinion. The bout would more than likely take place at Welterweight or a Catchweight. As it stands, Khan would more than likely posess the better boxing, but McGregor would hold an almost unfair advantage against Khan in terms of clinch and ground games. Dublin born McGregor would also completely dominant Khan with kicks, especially his spinning back kick to the body and teep kick he used so effectively in his bout with Chad 'Money' Mendes. McGregor certainly doesn't possess world class Brazilian Ju-Jitsu but, his ground game would be substantially better than Khan's. Another factor if this fight were in fact to happen, is the 4oz gloves used in the UFC compared to the much bigger 16oz gloves used in boxing, the bigger gloves allow boxers to slip punches easier and block themselves much more capably than the smaller fingerless MMA gloves. Amir Khan's 'glass' chin, as it's been described, has often been called into question with many telling how he is unable to withstand power. This could prove to be the difference for McGregor with the UFC star possessing some scary power.
