Dortmund sign Schürrle while Barca bring in Andre Gomes
Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona were today's big spenders in the summer transfer window with Thomes Tuchel's BVB brining in former Chelsea forward André Schürrle as Barcelona signed Portuguese Euro 2016 winner Andre Gomes from Valencia. Dortmund, who just yesterday brought Mario Götze back to the Signal Iduna Park after an unsuccessful move to fierce rivals Bayern Munich. The departure of Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United left Dortmund in need of a replacement and they identified former Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg forward André Schürrle as his replacement. The World Cup winner arrives from The Volkswagen arena for a fee of €32 million on a five year contract. Spanish side Barcelona have also splashed the cash on Andre Gomes after the former Benfica midfielder signed for £41.7 million. Interestingly, this signing puts Ivan Rakitic into question with the former Sevilla and Schalke midfielder's agent telling Twitter how 'it's time to leave'. Rakitic is said to be upset with the signing of Gomes who many believe will replace the Croatian at the Nou Camp.
