A high-stakes flyweight matchup, between former Invicta FC 125-pound titleholder, Jennifer Maia, and former Pancrase strawweight champion, Viviane 'Vivi' Araújo has been rebooked for a UFC Fight Night event on August 1st. Travel restrictions imposed amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced their removal from an initial matchup at UFC Fight Night Vegas on June 27th.

Maia, hailing from Paraná - will look return to the win column, following a unanimous decision loss to one-time title challenger, Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 244 in November. In an all Brazilian affair, Ceilândia native, Araújo is also attempting to return to winning ways, after a judging loss to another former title hopeful, Jessica Eye the following month at UFC 245. News of the reworked matching was first reported by MMA Fighting reporters, Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin.

Following her Invicta FC flyweight title defence opposite Agnieszka Niedźwiedź back in December of 2017, all-rounder, Maia debuted in the UFC with a unanimous decision loss to former bantamweight, and flyweight title tilter, Liz Carmouche. In victories since the 31-year-old scored wins with a pair of unanimous decisions over Alexis Davis, and Roxanne Modafferi - the latter, in a successful rematch.

Araújo, 33, has competed as high as bantamweight, and as low as strawweight in her five-year professional career, but seems to have settled on a flyweight home. In a short-notice promotional bow, replacing compatriot, Melissa Gatto - Araújo took a stunning third-round knockout win over Talita Bernardo at UFC 237 on home soil. In her second win under the UFC banner, Araújo also scored a unanimous decision win over common opponent, the aforementioned, Davis.
