A bantamweight pairing of one-time UFC flyweight title challenger, Ray 'The Tazmexican Devil' Borg, and streaking division prospect, Merab 'The Machine' Dvalishvili is currently targeted to feature at UFC Fight Night Vegas on June 13th. - with the UFC APEX facility hosting the card from 'Sin City'.
In a timely turnaround from a close UFC Fight Night Jacksonville split decision loss to Ricky Simon - Borg will make his second Octagon walk in exactly a month's time. Following a win over Casey Kenney at UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho in February, Georgia native, Dvalishvili will make his sixth walk under the organization's banner. News of the expected tie was first reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Nolan King and Farah Hannoun.
Rising to prominence back in 2016 - Jackson's MMAAcoma trainee, Borg, defeated both Louis Smolka and perennial flyweight challenger, Jussier Formiga - to earn his crack at then gold holder, Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson. In an admirable performance, Borg was finally stopped in a fifth-round, suplex-armbar submission. After victories over both Gabriel Silva and prospect, Rogério Bontorin - Borg faltered against Simon.
Like his opponent, Borg - Dvalishvili also dropped a loss to Simon, this time, a third-round guillotine. In her only other loss, the 29-year-old blemished against Frankie Saenz in his Octagon debut, albeit contentious. Securing a three-fight win streak since, the Serra-Longo Fight Team mainstay has bested Terrion Ware, TUF 27 tournament victor, Brad Katona, and the aforementioned unanimous judging over Kenney. Before his extremely close loss to Saenz, Dvalishvili had scored six straight wins.
