A middleweight pairing between Markus 'Maluko' Perez, and Eric 'Zebrinha' Spicely is targeted to feature at a UFC event on August 1st. - with a location and venue yet to be confirmed by the promotion.

Brazilian prospect, Perez will attempt to return to the win column opposite Spicely, following a unanimous decision loss to Wellington Turman at UFC Fight Night São Paulo last November. Following a return to the promotion back in June last year - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Spicely dropped a judging loss to Deron Winn. News of the targeted matching was initially reported by MMA Fighting reporter, Guilherme Cruz.

Perez, 29, made his Octagon bow back in December of 2017 - dropping a unanimous decision to Eryk Anders, before a win over James Bochnovic. In a common opponent, Perez also lost to Andrew Sanchez before taking an anaconda triumph over Anthony Hernandez at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza last February. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt joined the promotion following a victory over fellow promotional talent, Ian Heinisch - where he won the LFA middleweight crown. With a professional record of 12-3 - Perez also holds a win over UFC alumni, Paulo Thiago, as well as Ildemar Alcântara - the younger brother of bantamweight mainstay, Iuri.

Following a run of 2-4 in his first stint with the UFC, Spicely was released from the promotion in August of 2018. His initial run included submissions of future light heavyweight title challenger, Thiago 'Marreta' Santos, and Alessio Di Chirico.

After his short-notice loss to Winn - Spicely has found a second Octagon appearance of his latest stint, had to come by. He was forced from a pairing with Brendan Allen at UFC Fight Night Boston last October before a matching with Punahele Soriano was scratched. Roman Kopylov was slated as Soriano's replacement - until the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the UFC Fight Night Portland event scheduled for April 11th.
