A middleweight pairing between Ian Heinisch and Gerald 'GM3' Meerschaert has been re-added to UFC 250 this Saturday night - after a second COVID-19 test to administered to Heinisch's cornerman revealed the initial test had resulted in a false, leaving the cornerman cleared, and Heinisch cleared to compete. News of the re-worked matching was first reported by MMA Fighting reporter, Damon Martin.
Former WXC welterweight champion, Anthony 'Aquaman' Ivy, who was initially earmarked as Heinisch's replacement, will remain on the UFC roster and is expected to make his Octagon debut next weekend at UFC Fight Night Vegas.
Heinisch will attempt to return to the winner's enclosure - following two consecutive unanimous defeat outings to Derek Brunson, and Omari Akhmedov, the latter coming at UFC 245 in December. Before the defeats, former interim LFA middleweight titleholder, Heinisch had managed wins over Cezar Mutante, and Antônio Carlos Júnior.
Roufusport mainstay, Meerschaert has scored submissions in two of his three most recent outings, finishing both Deron Winn and Trevin Giles - sandwiched between a close split decision loss to Eryk Anders. The Wisconsin native is one of the most revered grapplers at middleweight today, holding twenty-two separate submission victories.
