Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns Headlines UFC 251 on July 11th.

A welterweight title clash between undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru 'The Nigerian Nightmare' Usman, and recently minted number-one contender, Gilbert 'Durinho' Burns will headline UFC 251 - with the event expected to take place at UFC 'Fight Island' in Abu Dhabi.

Tentatively expected to meet with Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal for the longest time - reigning 170-pound best, Usman will tackle fellow Henri Hooft trainee, Burns instead. The promotional perfect titleholder, last featured at UFC 245 in December - stopping Colby Covington with strikes in the fifth and final round. Burns headlined UFC Fight Night Vegas on May 30th. - taking a unanimous decision shutout over the returning former kingpin, Tyron Woodley. News of the main event meeting was first reported by ESPN writer, Brett Okamoto.

Usman will attempt to make the second defence of the welterweight title - after he dethroned the aforementioned Woodley with a decisive decision shutout in March of last year. With an incredible elven fight undefeated run with the promotion, the 33-year-old bested the likes of Demian Maia, Rafael dos Anjos, and Leon Edwards on his way to welterweight supremacy.

Since his return to the division back in August of last year - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, Burns has been an absolute revelation. He first handed Alexander Kunchenko his first professional blemish in twenty-outings, before defeating fellow grappler, Gunnar Nelson in a short-notice meeting at UFC Fight Night Copenhagen. In a statement performance, Burns featured at UFC Fight Night Brasília in March, finishing compatriot, Demian Maia in an opening-round knockout.
