Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson on deck for UFC 225:


A striking exhibition at Featherweight has been added to the UFC's premier trip to Chicago, as former Bantamweight queen Holly Holm meets Australian Invicta FC kicker Megan Anderson. Holm snatched the crown from Ronda Rousey in spectacular fashion back at UFC 193 via a second round knockout, in arguably her most recognisable victory, while Queensland  Muay Thai expert Anderson was in line for a TIC debut title tilt against division best Cris Cyborg before VISA issues prevented the pairing. It's subsequently been over a year since her last MMA match, stopping mainstay Charmaine Tweet via a brutal head kick after some precise boxing on the feet.

Holm was unsuccessful in both her trips at 145lbs, losing a hugely controversial inaugural title challenge against Germaine Dr Randamie, before a more clear cut decision defeat to Brazil's Cyborg. The Jackson-Wink star looked to be back to winning ways in a fantastic showing against the dangerous Bethe 'Pitbull' Correia, finishing the Campina Grande native with perfectly placed question mark kick and then a bludgeoning hook from the top.


Currently undefeated in her last four, Anderson recovered from a submission loss to Cindy Dandois, to finish the aforementioned Tweet, Peggy Morgan, Amanda Bell and Amy Leibrock all by way of knockout. With a devastating ability to kick from the outside and mix up her strikes, Anderson is really one of Holly's most dangerous matchup and with both women reluctant to entertain any ground exchanges, expect a showcase in striking come June 9th.

UFC 225 is headlined by a mouth watering Middleweight title rematch between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero, and in the co-main event former Lightweight best Rafael dos Anjos faces fellow Welterweight riser Colby 'Chaos' Covington for the Interim crown due to an injury to undisputed title holder Tyron Woodley. A probable Flyweight title eliminator between Joseph Benavidez and Sergio Pettis also features, while kickboxing ace Alistair Overeem meets Juco wrestling sensation Curtis Blaydes. Former Strawweight title challenger and title holder's clash as Cláudia Gadelha faces inaugural 155lbsbest Carla Esparza, while a Featherweight meeting between Ricardo Lamas and Bosnian striker Mirsad Bektić. Former WWE superstar CM Punk returns first the first time since his UFC 203 loss to Mickey Gall, as he meets fellow 0-1 professional Mike Jackson.
