T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt II headed for UFC 227:

Exciting re-run
One of the most bitter and heated rivalies in UFC history will have it's re-run on August the 4th at the Staples Centre, as Bantamweight best T.J. Dillashaw renews his conflict with former champion and Team Alpha Male teammate Cody 'No Love Garbrandt in the main event of UFC 227. The pair met on the monstrous UFC 217 card, and despite a late first round knockdown, Dillashaw rallied in the second, scoring a lighting quick head kick knockdown of his own before catching Cody in a timely exchange, dropping him again before finishing with ground and pound.

The two time 135lbs champion was continuously linked with a drop to Flyweight to challenge pound-for-pound kingpin Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson for the crown, before a shoulder injury and further concern on Johnson's behalf about Dillashaw's ability to make the 125lbs limit put the kibosh on the meeting. Johnson does have a case for concern regarding the weight limit, Dillashaw was clearly in peak shredded condition for his Madison Square Garden appearance.

Both men of course coached on The Ultimate Fighter with team Dillashaw victorious. Garbrandt wasn't expected to be warranted an immediate rematch with T.J. and rightfully so in my opinion, with top contenders Dominick Cruz, Jimmie Rivera and former ONE FC best Marlon Moraes expected to be next in line for a title tilt.
