Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes Featherweight Superfight official for UFC 232:

An all Brazilian clash at UFC 232 will not only establish which South America native is the greatest, but will finally put an end to the constant debate, who is the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. Featherweight queen Cris Cyborg will defend her title against Bantamweight best Amanda Nunes in the UFC's curtain closer of 2018. With two of the most decorated careers in MMA history, heavy hitters Cyborg and Nunes have dispatched the best each promotion have had to serve them.

Slick Muay Thai practitioner Cris 'Cyborg' Justino, demonstrated a natural Jason Parillo gameplan to out work Holly Holm for five rounds as she retained her 145lbs title in arguably her most dangerous professional walk to date. Sandwiched between the dominant defeat of Holm, were two brutal knockouts over Tonya Evinger firstly, then adapt striker Yana Kunitskaya. Evinger, a natural Bantamweight was systematically picked off by a hungry Cyborg who eventually scored the stoppage win with a flurry of damaging plumb clinch knees. Russia's Kunitskaya on the other hand, was drafted in on short notice along with Justino after an injury to Max Holloway ahead of his Featherweight title defence against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222, and couldn't make it out of the opening round with the Curitiba fan favourite.

Cyborg has dispatched some of the most respectable competition over a thirteen year career, taking out the likes of Gina Carano in Strikeforce, Marloes Coenen, Charmaine Tweet, Shayna Baszler and Faith Van Duin. The 33 year old's only MMA setback came in her professional bow, losing via kneebar to Erica Paes in the opening round. Her last defeat in combat sport came in a Muay Thai clash with Dutch icon Jorina Baars, holding her own against the 44-0 ISKA Welterweight crown holder, losing a unanimous decision.

December's opponent Amanda Nunes may just be tied alongside Holly Holm as Justino's most dangerous threat to her coveted 145lbs championship. Although 'The Lioness' is a natural Bantamweight, the 30 year old hits like a Featherweight. Stopping future UFC Hall of Fame inductees Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate, and the experienced Julia Budd, Germaine de Randamie and Sara McMann gives Nunes a more than credible claim to go down as the greatest female mixed martial artist ever.

Whoever exits this contest as the victor solidify's their legacy ultimately, but in my opinion, the fact that Nunes is moving up to 145lbs is a win-win situation for her. A win for Amanda Nunes would see her become the premier female to become a multiple division champion simultaneously, and just the third fighter in the promotion's history to achieve such a feat, following Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier who held the Featherweight and Lightweight championship and the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight title respectively, at the same time. Also, if Cyborg were to pick up the win, something the betting line in Vegas suggests, although narrowly at the time of writing, Nunes at the end of the day faced a much bigger opponent physically.

This clash at Featherweight presents some what of a backlog at both Bantamweight and the shallow 145lbs division up until the December meeting. Rightful contender for Nunes' title Ketlen Vieira has accepted a rather bizarre meeting with Tonya Evinger, while Holly Holm has retained her #1 rank after her dominant decision win over promotion debutante Megan Anderson, with the former Bantamweight gold holder rumored to face either Julianna Pena or the re-surging Cat Zingano in the near future.
