Floyd Mayweather offers Conor McGregor training assistance ahead of upcoming Khabib clash:

A former opponent of UFC Lightweight contender Conor McGregor has surprisingly offered to help 'The Notorious' attempt to reclaim the 155lbs championship in his upcoming match with Khabib Nurmagomedov this October at UFC 229. 50-0 boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. has offered to team up with 'Team McGregor' throughout the six weeks remaining in camp to help prepare the Dubliner for the mouth watering battle with arch rival Khabib.

Speaking with entertainment outlet TMZ Sport, Mayweather spoke of his intent to have Conor spend some of his remaining time in camp, honing his boxing ability at the Mayweather Boxing Club; "I'll talk with Dana, I may talk with Conor to get some tickets. But leading up to the fight, when McGregor gets to Las Vegas, we'd like him to train at - I know the UFC has got the training facility - but we'd like him to work out at the Mayweather Boxing Club".

Both men faced off in Las Vegas in August 2017, with Floyd scoring a tenth round TKO victory over Conor, in the Irishman's premier walk to the ring. Despite showing some promising counter striking in the early rounds, 'Money' Mayweather began finding his range on Conor from the eight round onward, forcing referee Robert Byrd to step in and close the show late on.

McGregor, who was subsequently stripped of both Featherweight and Lightweight titles due to inactivity and the UFC 223 Brooklyn fiasco, will attempt to become the first man to clinch the coveted 155lbs crown for a second time when he meets with undefeated Sambo ace Khabib 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov. Khabib scored a unanimous decision victory over late notice Max Holloway replacement Al Iaquinta to claim the vacant championship, setting up a highly anticipated title match with McGregor.

As of yet, it is unknown whether or not McGregor will take up Mayweather on his offer, but in recent headlining trips to Sin City where Conor has faced the likes of Chad Mendes, José Aldo and Nate Diaz, McGregor has spent the remaining two to three weeks in Nevada to acclimatize for upcoming bouts.
