Brian Ortega replaces the injured Max Holloway and faces Frankie Edgar at UFC 222:

The winner meets Holloway next.
High flying Featherweight contender Brian 'T-City' Ortega has stepped in on short notice as a replacement for the injured champion Max Holloway at UFC 221, where he faces former Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in a three round co main event slot. Ortega upset the odds against long time challenger Cub Swanson, submitting the striker with a wickedly executed standing guillotine in his most recent and impressive octagon walk to date. Holloway was slated to face Edgar in the main event in his second defence of his 145lbs crown, until a leg injury sustained in preparation for the bout left 'The Answer' opponent less.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt player Ortega, has compiled a very impressive 11 fight undefeated record, submitting the aforementioned Swanson, Renato Moicano and Diego Brandao in between knockout wins over Clay 'The Carpenter' Guida and Brazil's Thiago Tavares. The Rener Gracie trained Ortega was eyeing a shot at Holloway before the Hawaiian's meeting with Edgar, but a victory over the veteran will surely see him leapfrog the Toms River into definite title contention upon the return of 'Blessed' Holloway.
