T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt II targeted as new UFC 222 headliner:

A solid rematch for sure!
A mouth watering Bantamweight rematch between current division gold holder and bitter rivals T.J. Dillashaw and Cody 'No Gabrandt has been discussed as the new UFC 222 main event, after the withdrawal of Featherweight champ Max Holloway who sustained a leg injury during his preparation for his title defence against Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar. The former TUF coaches and Team Alpha Male teammates Dillashaw and Garbrandt clashed at Madison Sqaure Garden's UFC 217, where despite an early knockdown, T.J. recovered to eventually flat line Cody in the second round and reclaim his Bantamweight crown. The UFC match makers are also keen on a meeting between Edgar and rising Featherweight grappler Brian 'T-City' Ortega if they can cement the aforementioned rematch.

Tension between the pair eventually reached boiling point before both entered the octagon, with Garbrandt finally showing the light of day to a video of both himself and T.J. sparring in California, with 'No Love' clipping Dillashaw resulting in a knockdown, hugely similar to the actual first round drop he sustained on Dillashaw at UFC 217. It was  the Duane Ludwig trained Dillashaw who until now had the last laugh, starting the second round with a big left high kick knockdown before catching Cody in an exchange, badly hurting the 26 year-old Ohio favourite before forcing a title changing stoppage.

Surprising rematch in terms of timing for Garbrandt, although it's believed that Dillashaw would rather hold out for his rumoured UFC 226 'superfight' with Flyweight P4P best Demetrious Johnson, and further more, see Cody forced to climb his way back into contention, similarly to the way he did after his razor thin loss to Dominick Cruz.
