Edson Barboza versus Kevin Lee on deck for UFC Atlantic City headliner:

Classic match up.
An intriguing Lightweight meeting has been slated for the main event of UFC Fight Night's trip to Atlantic City, with striking ace and Muay Thai practitioner Edson Barboza facing recent Interim title competitor Kevin Lee in a classic striker versus grappler meeting. Barboza was of course Khabib Nurmagomediv's most recent victim, with the Dagestani bringing an end to an eye catching three fight win steak for the Brazilian. 'The Mo'Town Phenom' Kevin Lee recorded a controversial rear-naked choke win over Michael Chiesa to earn an Interim clash with Tony Ferguson, but was ultimately disposed of via a quick triangle from 'El Cucuy'.

Always a dangerous and explosive customer, Edson 'Jr.' Barboza is a formidable striker who has now twice fallen just short of a shot at UFC gold. Displaying a striking clinic against both former MMA champs Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez, Barboza captured two clear cut decision victories, and was then pitted against the ever improving Benny Dariush in his native Brazil. Despite taking longer than usual to grasp the timing of the Iranian, Edson exploded on a level change from the latter to flat line him with a flying knee in the second round. With his Muay Thai or art of eight limbs background, Barboza is as deadly with each of those limbs as the last. Three separate leg kick stoppages, an unforgettable wheel kick over Terry Etim and a liver bruising body kick to Evan Dunham also lie comfortably on Edson's impressive résumé.

A wily grappler, Kevin Lee has seen his stock rise considerably after his loss to Ferguson, admitting it may have been too much too soon for the young Las Vegas native. Starting quite well against Tony, Lee landed some good shots both on the feet and in guard toward the end of the opening round, until the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt of Ferguson proved too much for Lee, who despite suffering from a noticeable staph infection on his left pectoral muscle, fell into a vice like triangle and was forced to tap. The Xtreme Couture trainee holds a patented rear naked choke to his name, stopping the likes of the aforementioned Chiesa, the experienced Francisco Trinaldo and three more opponents via that method.
