Aleksei Oleinik Replaces Alexander Volkov, Meets Alistair Overeem At UFC St. Petersburg:

UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg has had somewhat of a reshuffle. The original main event clash between Heavyweight contenders Alexander Volkov and Alistair Overeem has fallen to the waste side, Overeem now meets short notice replacement Aleksei Oleinik. 

For undisclosed reasons, former Bellator Heavyweight tournament kingpin Alexander 'Drago' Volkov has withdrew from the scheduled match up with 'The Reem' who now faces the task of overcoming submission specialist and Ezekiel choke master Aleksei Oleinik on April 20th. 'The Boa Constrictor' recently picked up a rear-naked choke victory over the veteran Mark Hunt in the UFC's premier trip to Russia in September, extending his win streak to two. Former DREAM, Strikeforce and K-1 best Overeem scored a ground and pound stoppage win over promotion debutante Sergey Pavlovich in his most recent Octagon walk, and now plying his trade under the Team Elevation banner in Colorado, looks to reignite his 2014-2016 run which seen him meet Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight title, now under the scrutiny of Eliot Marshall.

UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg takes place from the Yubileyny Sports Palace on April 20th. with a co-main event Lightweight pairing of Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan expected to take place. Exciting Flyweight contender Antonina Shevchenko, the sister of current division queen Valentina, meets TUF title challenger Roxanne Modafferi on the main card, while Marcin Tybura makes his Octagon return alongside Shamil Abdurakhimov.
