Report - Leah McCourt vs. Sinead Kavanagh Targeted For Bellator Dublin On February 25.

An eye-catching featherweight showdown between the surging #4 ranked contender, Leah ‘The Curse’ McCourt, and one-time title challenger, the #5 ranked challenger, Sinead ‘KO’ Kavanagh is currently in the works to feature at Bellator Dublin on February 25. From the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. 

Undefeated in her last six straight outing, McCourt looks to improve her professional record to 7-1 against Kavanagh, having most recently defeated Jessica Borga with a unanimous decision at Bellator 267 in London, England.

For SBG Ireland staple, Kavanagh, the Inchicore native enters her February clash with McCourt off the back of a featherweight title challenge against the decorated former UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce champion, Cris Cyborg. Kavanagh would suffer a first round knockout loss at the Bellator 271 event last month in Florida. MMA journalist, Peter Carroll was first to report the targeted clash of McCourt and Kavanagh. 

5-0 in her five fight stint under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, 29-year-old featherweight contender, McCourt has also featured twice under the Cage Warriors banner, dropping her professional debut in a second round knockout defeat to Rizian Zouak, before earning a split decision win over now-UFC prospect, Manon Fiorot. 

In five outings under the Bellator banner, McCourt has bested the quintet of Borga, Hatice Ozyurt, Kerry Hughes, Janay Harding, and in a Bellator Dubliner headliner back in February of last year, took home a unanimous decision win over Judith Ruis. McCourt clinched gold at the lightweight limit of the IMMAF championships back in 2015. 

35-year-old All-Ireland boxing standout, Kavanagh currently boasts a 7-5 professional record from 12 outings across her six-year professional career.

The Dubliner has competed nine time’s inside the Bellator cage, establishing a 4-5 record in the process. In victories, Kavanagh has defeated Elina Kallionidou, Maria Casanova, Olga Rubin, and Katharina Lehner, as well as losing razor thin, often-debated decision losses to former title challenges, Arlene Blencowe, and Leslie Smith. 

Kavanagh began her professional record with a 4-0 start, which included a trio of wins over common-foe, Ozyurt, as well Katarzyna Sadura, and UFC-alum, Zarah Fairn dos Santos.

Bellator Dublin is slated to take place on February 25. from the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland – with an undisputed middleweight title clash between reigning champion, Gegard Mousasi, and undefeated challenger, Austin Vanderford slated to take main event status. In the night’s co-headliner, recent lightweight title challenger, Peter Queally is booked to return opposite Manchester native, Kane Mousah.
