Jared Cannonier Tears Pectoral Muscle, Ruled Out of UFC 248

Cannonier, who extended his win streak at middleweight to three fights with a knockout of Jack Hermansson, was also expected to serve as an emergency replacement for the main event of UFC 248 if circumstances prevented Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero meeting. Cannonier is expected to undergo surgery and is said to be sidelined until the Autumn while recuperating.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday morning, 'The Killa Gorilla' revealed the extent of his injury, and also had some parting words for the aforementioned, former welterweight title challenger, Till.
"@darrentill2 I'm happy you found some courage and finally decided to accept the fight. On Monday. But only two days after I tore my left Pec (pectoral muscle) completely. When it happened on Saturday 7th. February, I was in Houston to talk about how you wouldn't accept the fight. Now had you have said yes when they had offered, instead of dodging the fight presumably, I would have been in PHX gettin (sic) ready to beat yo (sic) ass. I'm not blaming you but I kinda am. Anyway, I'm gettin (sic) surgery on Tuesday. If you're still around in the MW (middleweight) division, I'll hit you up in the fall. P.S., tel your little minions to stop tagging me in your weird ass posts.
With Cannonier expected to spend a considerable length of time on the sidelines, the momentum gained from finishes over David Branch and former middleweight king, Anderson Silva, is somewhat halted for the 34-year-old, #4 ranked contender.
