A bantamweight barn-burner between two of the division's most promising talents has been matched for UFC Fight Night Columbus, on March 28th. #11 ranked contender, Cody 'Mr. Wonderful' Stamann returns from his dubious majority draw against Song Yadong - as he clashes with the so far, promotional-perfect, Raoni Barcelos.
Grand Rapids, Michigan born Stamann, has displayed some truly eye-catching wrestling already despite just making six Octagon walks - winning four of those appearances might I add. Under the tutelage of UFC alumni, Daron Cruickshank, Stamann has managed victories over Terrion Ware, former BAMMA featherweight and bantamweight best, Tom Duquesnoy, Bryan Caraway, Alejandro Perez - and has dropped a single defeat to perennial division challenger, Aljamain Sterling. The 30-year-old arrived in the promotion off the back of fourteen professional victories.
Rio de Janeiro native, Barcelos, has begun his UFC career flawlessly - lodging four straight victories. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt made his promotional bow back in the summer of 2018, managing a unanimous decision triumph over Kurt Holobaugh. Soon after, wins over Chris Gutiérrez, and Carlos Huachin followed before Barcelos closed out last year with a comfortable judging over Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Fight Night Busan.
UFC Fight Night Columbus takes place on March 28th. from the Nationwide Arena, and is headlined by a monstrous heavyweight meeting between Francis Ngannou, and Jairzinho Rozenstriuk. The event co-headliner is contested between Brazils, Raphael Assuncao, and former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt. In a potential bantamweight title-eliminator, Aspen Ladd meets Julianna Peña. Making up the rest of the card is a heavyweight pairing of Greg Hardy and Yorgan de Castro. In an affair at 205-pounds, Sam Alvey will meet with Khalil Rountree Jr. In bantamweight action, Louis Smolka returns to action as he's paired with Davey Grant. a matchup of strawweights will also take place as Tecia Torres battles against Mizuki Inoue. Randy Costa will also feature in a 135-pound clash, as he meets with Martin Day.
