Shogun Rua vs. Minotouro Nogueira III Set for UFC 250

A matchup between future UFC Hall of Fame inductees and two of the most recognisable mixed-martial-artists to emerge from the hotbed of Brazil - has been put together, for the third time. Former PRIDE FC great and light heavyweight champion, Maurício 'Shogun' Rua will clash with Antônio Rogério Nogueira at UFC 250 in Sau Paulo on April 9th. News of the trilogy bout was first reported by ESPN's, Brett Okamoto.
Former PRIDE FC Middleweight Grand-Prix Champion, Rua, and 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Lil Nog, have faced-off twice before - with Shogun winning at both UFC 190 in 2015, and PRIDE Critical Countdown back in 2005. The matchup will take place on home soil for both competitors once more, following their showdown in Rio de Janeiro five years ago.
One-time light heavyweight champion, Rua fought to a split decision draw against Paul Craig at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo in November recently, after lodging a knockout win over Tyson Pedro in Australia in December 2018. The 38-year-old knockout artist had managed career-highlight triumphs over the likes of Corey Anderson, Lyoto Machida, Forest Griffin, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Alistair Overeem, Kevin Randleman, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, and Akihiro Gono over the course of a decorated eighteen-year professional career.
The 43-year-old veteran, Antônio Rogério Nogueira will make his thirteenth walk under the UFC banner in April, having spent the early stages of his career in Japan-based promotion, PRIDE FC alongside compatriot, Rua. Nogueira dropped an opening-round knockout to Ryan Spann at UFC 237 in May of last year, following a knockout victory of his own over Sam Alvey. The Vitória da Conquista native has secured notable wins over the likes of Kazushi Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem (x2), Dan Henderson, Tito Ortiz, Patrick Cummins, Rashad Evans and Guy Mezger since his professional debut back in 2001.
UFC 250 takes place on May 9th. from the Ginásio do Ibirapuera arena, and is expected to be headlined by a bantamweight title bout between Henry Cejudo, and former featherweight best, José Aldo. At 135-pounds, Ketlen Vieira looks to return to winning ways when she meets with Marion Reneau, while Bethe Correia also makes her return, as she tackles Pannie Kianzad. In heavyweight action, Augusto Sakai clashes with Blagoy Ivanov. Former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabrício Werdum also makes his return, as he meets with veteran grappling extraordinaire, Aleksei Oleinik.
