Reigning featherweight and bantamweight queen, Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes, is expected to attempt the first defence of her 145-pound championship this coming May, on home soil. The Bahia native stuck gold against now Bellator MMA best, Cris Cyborg back in December of 2018, and is expected to feature at UFC 250 in São Paulo - according to an initial report from Combate writer, Raphael Marinho.

The 31-year-old recently defended her bantamweight championship at UFC 245 two months ago, dominating Germaine de Randamie in the pair's rematch on her way to a unanimous decision triumph. Although no opponent has been set yet, it's widely believed Nunes will face either Felicia Spencer, Zarah Fairn dos Santos, Megan Anderson, or Norma Dumont Viana - with all four featherweight contenders matched at tomorrow's UFC Fight Night Norfolk.

The current front runners are believed to be former Invicta FC featherweight champions, Spencer, and Anderson - with both attempting to secure their premier Octagon title tilts. Spencer made her UFC debut against Australia's Anderson back in May of last year, picking up an eye-catching rear-naked choke win in the opening frame. A victory for the Canadian over dos Santos may be enough to warrant a featherweight pairing with Nunes.

Widely considered the greatest female mixed-martial-artist of all-time, Amanda Nunes has bested each and every former bantamweight, and featherweight champion in the promotion's history. The Conan Silveira trainee has stopped Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, and has twice overcome current 125-pound best, Valentina Shevchenko, in a hugely illustrious career.

UFC 250 is expected to take place on May 9th. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from the Ginásio do Ibirapuera - with Cejudo vs. Aldo expected to headline the event. At 135-pounds, Ketlen Vieira looks to return to winning ways when she meets with Marion Reneau, while Bethe Correia also makes her return, as she tackles Pannie Kianzad. In heavyweight action, Augusto Sakai clashes with Blagoy Ivanov. Former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabrício Werdum also makes his return, as he meets with veteran grappling extraordinaire, Aleksei Oleinik. In a trilogy meeting, Brazilian icons, Shogun Rua and Minotouro Nogueira are expected to meet.
