Chris Weidman Returns to middleweight, Meets Jack Hermansson at UFC Oklahoma City

A middleweight pairing between former division champion, Chris 'The All American' Weidman, and submission-specialist, Jack 'The Joker' Hermansson is expected to headline UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City on May 2nd.
Weidman will make his return to 185-pounds following a brief light heavyweight excursion, which ended with a knockout defeat to recent title challenger. Dominick Reyes. Guillotine specialist, Jack Hermansson also dropped his last Octagon outing, losing via a second-round knockout to Jared Cannonier in the main event of UFC Fight Night Copenhagen late last year. News of the matchup was initially reported by ESPN staff writer, Brett Okamoto.
Former middleweight world champion, Weidman, has lost five of his last six Octagon walks, returning to the win-column against former interim title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum via an arm-triangle finish back in 2017. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt has lodged massive victories over the iconic, Anderson Silva, wrestling ace, Mark Muñoz, former light heavyweight best, Lyoto Machida, and Brazilian icons, Vitor Belfort, and Demian Maia, in his eleven-year professional stint.
185-pound contender, Jack Hermansson's considerable momentum was halted in his last outing, as he dropped a stoppage defeat to the previously noted, Jared Cannonier. Prior to the loss, the Swede had managed four straight wins over Thales Leites, Gerald Meerschaert, David Branch, and former Strikeforce middleweight best, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu player, Jacaré Souza. Hermansson is a former Cage Warriors middleweight champion, having successfully defended the championship on two occasions before joining the UFC ranks back in 2016.
UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City takes place on May 2nd. from the Chesapeake Energy Arena, and featured a strawweight clash between Brazilian challengers, Cláudia Gadelha, and Marina Rodriguez. A bantamweight pairing between Sarah Alpar and Vanessa Melo is also expected to take place at the event.
