Dustin Poirier continues to call for a clash with Nate Diaz, this time at 170-pounds.

It's a rivalry that's been steadily building in the background for some time now - as the former interim lightweight champion, Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier continues to campaign for a meeting with TUF victor, and all-round fan-favorite, Nate Diaz.

The pair were expected to take place at UFC 230 in November of 2018 - until a hip injury forced Poirier from the contest, and Diaz was subsequently removed from the Madison Square Garden card. Lafayette striker, Poirier, is currently recuperating from hip surgery after his lightweight unification loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.

Diaz, on the other hand, is expected to undergo plastic surgery on his right eyebrow to remove scar tissue and repair a nasty cut he suffered against Jorge Masvidal in the two's BMF championship main event last November - and is believed to be currently weighing up his options ahead of a potential summer return.

Taking to his official Twitter account on Saturday evening - American Top Team staple, Poirier, revealed he had terms talks with the UFC last night regarding a possible tie with Diaz, and urged the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to accept the fight - in what would prove to be a welterweight debut for the 31-year-old.

"Spoke with the @ufc last night you gonna take the fight @NateDiaz209? 170LBS in May or July international fight week? Come get this work."

Diaz ended a three-year hiatus from the Octagon last year - returning a unanimous decision shutout victory over former WEC and UFC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis - before issuing the aforementioned BMF championship challenge, to Poirier's Florida based teammate, Jorge Masvidal.
