Tension reaches boiling point as Paulie Malignaggi splits from McGregor camp ahead of Mayweather meeting:
This could have been dealt with better by both sides. |
Malignaggi took to his various social media accounts on Friday morning to confirm his premature departure from the Irishman's camp where he served as a sparring partner for the Dubliner. During the Mayweather vs. McGregor World Tour, 'The Notorious' one was faced with questions about the possibility of Paulie joining the camp to offer some insight, but claimed how the American must answer for what he has said about him in the past, before steeping foot in the ring with him, leading many to believe the recent barbs from Paulie have warranted the leaks from McGregor. Malignaggi explained how there was a huge UFC presence in the gym during the dog rounds of the sparring sessions, with former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White watching closely, and told how the only photographers allowed access were from the McGregor side. Sources close to the McGregor side have told how they believe the original leaks came from Malignaggi, who has taken interviews with former UFC Heavyweight contender Brendan Schaub, and appeared on The Jim Rome Show, where he claimed McGregor didn't hold ''OMG power''. Paulie has since challenged McGregor to release the video footage of their twelve round sparring session on Tuesday night, suggesting there is more that meets the eye to this one.
