Two-weight Cage Warriors world champion, Mason 'The Dragon' Jones is reportedly in line for his promotional debut in the UFC on January 20th.
Arriving from the Graham Boylan led organization, Jones, who captured both lightweight and welterweight gold is slated to match with two-fight promotional veteran, Mike 'Beast Boy' Davis at UFC Fight Island 8 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Fresh from a second championship-winning performance at Cage Warriors 116 in September opposite, Adam 'The Love Doctor' Procter, Jones managed a first-round knockout to add 170-pound gold to a prior success at 155-pounds. The victory came as the Welshman's ninth professionally from nine outings.
For former Island Fights feature, Davis, the 28-year-old South Cairo, New York native is currently 1-1 under the UFC's banner. Debuting against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, Herbert Burns, the younger brother of incoming welterweight title challenger, Gilbert Burns, Davis suffered a second-round rear-naked choke defeat. The promotion added the fight to their official website earlier this morning. (H/T @emmettglenn)
Bouncing back to the winner's enclosure, Davis managed a late third-round knockout of Thomas Gifford in a massively one-sided showing. Davis was twice slated to match with Georgian finishing ace, Kings MMA staple, Giga Chikadze this year, until an injury and undisclosed reasons forced him from each clash, respectively.
Penning a multi-fight deal with the UFC off the back of his win over Proctor, 25-year-old standout, Jones had launched a prior lightweight title assault against Joe McColgan, managing a first-round knockout win in March at Cage Warriors 113. From his nine victories, Jones has managed six stoppage wins.
