Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar inked for UFC 218:

After stopping ''José Waldo'' Max has been handed one of MMA's true pioneers.
UFC 218 in Detroit finally has it's main event nailed on, as the long anticipated Featherweight title meeting between undisputed king Max 'Blessed' Holloway and former Lightweight champ Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar has been confirmed. Holloway stopped the legendary José Aldo in Brazil in June to unify both Interim and Undisputed crowns and has been handed Edgar as he attempts to successfully defend his title for the first time, while Edgar also scored a stoppage victory as he dismantled the flashy and dangerous Yair Rodríguez in dominant fashion in his most recent octagon 'run'.

Hawaii superstar Holloway has long put aside his 2013 loss to Lightweight kingpin Conor McGregor, enjoying an astonishing 11 fight win streak to cement his legacy as one of the best 145lbers in MMA history. The talented boxer has evolved his game to incredible lengths since that notable defeat, submitting Cub Swanson, Andre 'Touchy' Fili as well as becoming the first man to stop Anthony Pettis, and of course the aforementioned José Aldo. Holloway has recently entertained the idea of a rematch with former foe McGregor, even stating his willingness to move up to 155lbs in order to face 'The Notorious' one as he seeks redemption against the Dubliner.

New York favourite and long time top contender Frankie Edgar has once more been afforded a title fight, this one the ninth of his ten year UFC stint, holding off stiff competition from Ricardo Lamas and Cub Swanson who has recently been matched up alongside top prospect |Brian Ortega. Before his mauling of 'El Pantera' Rodríguez, Edgar faced the explosive Jeremy Stephens at UFC 205 where he picked up a decision victory, marking his return to the winners circle after a UFC 200 loss to former foe José Aldo. 'The Answer' has overthrown some of MMA's elite in his illustrious career including Hall of Fame inductee Urijah Faber, Gray Maynard, the aforementioned Cub Swanson, classy wrestler Chad 'Money' Mendes, and on three separate occasions, B.J. Penn.

The big question heading into this match up is whether or not Max can withstand the wrestling of Edgar and if he is eventually forced to the mat, will his submission skills prove too much for the veteran and also, can Edgar avoid the slick striking of 'Blessed' for five rounds as he looks to become a two division champion at the ripe age of 36.
