Frankie Edgar Replaces Brian Ortega, Meets Chan Sung Jung At UFC Busan

Frankie Edgar will step in on short-notice to clash with Chan Sung Jung.

Former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar will replace former opponent Brian 'T-City' Ortega in the main event of UFC Fight Night Busan on December 21st., as he meets with once scheduled opponent, 'The Korean Zombie' Chan Sung Jung. The Tom's River native was in line to drop to 135-pounds at UFC Fight Night Raleigh this coming January, as he takes on the streaking Cory Sandhagen, and it is believed that this pairing is still possible, once Edgar is assessed after his bout with Jung.

One-time featherweight title chaser Ortega, revealed the news of his injury on social media recently, explaining how a "partial" tear of his ACL would force him to the sidelines for possibly two-to-three months, scuppering his first Octagon walk in just over a year. Edgar and Ortega have met in the past, with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt becoming the first opponent to ever stop Edgar via strikes during their UFC 222 co-main event.

Last October, Edgar was scheduled to meet Jung in the main event of UFC Fight Night Denver, until an injury to the former 155-pound best forced him from the tie. Yair Rodriguez would replace Edgar and score a memorable, highlight-reel last second, upward-elbow knockout. Edgar last entered the Octagon at UFC 240 in July, where he lost a unanimous decision to reigning 145-pound champion, Max 'Blessed' Holloway.
