Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov confirmed for UFC 223 in April:

Will we finally see Ferguson versus Khabib at UFC 223?
A Lightweight title clash between current Interim king pin Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson and undefeated Sambo specialist Khabib 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov has been booked for UFC's trip to Brooklyn, New York. This is the fourth scheduled meeting between the pair, but as of yet, it's still unclear whether this is iteration is in fact, an Interim Lightweight title defense for the D'arce expert Ferguson, or an undisputed title bout, which would obviously see Conor McGregor stripped of his 155lbs crown due to inactivity.

Ferguson claimed the Interim title after a triangle victory over title chaser Kevin Lee, while at UFC 219, Khabib moved to 25-0 with a pure mauling of Muay Thai practitioner Edson Barboza. Rumors of a Ferguson and Khabib meeting has been rife, with UFC President adding fuel to these fires at UFC Fight Night St. Louis, claiming how it just wasn't fair if McGregor, who is reportedly targeting a September return, would sit out until then, with the Lightweight division still in it's current state.

White failed to elaborate if the five rounder between 'El Cucuy' and Nurmagomedov would be for the undisputed crown, but it seems likely with his recent comments outlining how, if and when 'The Notorious' one decides to return, he would get an immediate title shot at the future champion.

If the money is right, surely Conor will be chomping at the bit to reclaim the Lightweight crown.
With plans allegedly in place for the UFC to make it's Russian debut in Moscow at some stage in September, the attraction of Khabib making his homecoming in a UFC Lightweight title defense against fierce foe, McGregor, would surely sell out any venue multiple times over.
