Max Holloway out of UFC 226 title defence against Brian Ortega:
Current UFC Featherweight champion Max 'Blessed' Holloway has been removed from this weekend's UFC 226 co-main event, where he was scheduled to defend his 145lbs championship against the #1 contender Brian 'T-City' Ortega.
Appearing at the UFC 226 Open Workouts, Max was noticabley shaky and after inspection, was medically pulled from the card. The Hawaii striker's team released an official statement confirming how after the Open Workouts, Max "was very hard to wake up, when he did he had flashing vision and slurred speech". It is believed Max had been suffering from post concussion like symptoms.
Holloway claimed the title against former pound-for-pound kingpin José Aldo back at UFC 212, before stopping José in the same round to defend the crown, six months later.
Undefeated challenger Brian Ortega was handed his first title tilt after submitting sport veteran Cub Swanson, and impressively, becoming the first opponent ever to stop Frankie Edgar after he accepted a fight on short notice against 'The Answer' after a previous injury to Holloway.
As of yet it is unknown whether or not Gracie Jiu-Jitsu trainee Ortega will remain on Saturday's card, with an eventual showdown with Max the favoured option for the Californian.
