Conor McGregor Sentenced: 5 Days Community Service & Anger Management Evaluation:


Former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight champion 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor appeared in a New York City court today for the third ocassion, this time, he was issued his sentencing and verdict for his part in the UFC 223 bus attack in the Barclays Centre.

Crumlin native McGregor, along with SBGi teammate Cian Cowley travelled to Kings County courthouse in Brooklyn this afternoon where he plead guilty to a count of disorderly conduct and was subsequently sentenced to five days community service, and was ordered to complete an anger management evaluation program and finally, paid restitution for the damage caused to the fighter bus in the loading bay of the Barclays Arena. Dalkey born mixed-martial artist Cowley was also ordered to attend an anger management evaluation program, and was sentenced to three days of community service.

McGregor will be free to continue with his fighting career, but until July 2020, a barring order has been placed which will prevent the Dubliner from being near Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg.
Significantly, fines and a prison sentence has been avoided but it remains to be seen  if Dana White and the UFC will issue punishment to McGregor for bringing the sport into disrepute.

If McGregor avoids further internal punishment, a path is paved for an eventual UFC Lightweight title clash with arch rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, the reported target of the April attack. An October date is said to be the preferred option with UFC 229 taking place in the first week of October. Another date thrown around is the usually monumental end of year card in Las Vegas at UFC 232
