Lando Vannata vs. Drakkar Klose: What will go down:

Two steely Lightweight strikers meet at this weekend's monstrous UFC 226 card in the fight capital of the world, as the impressive and dynamic 'Groovy' Lando Vannata squares off against MMA Lab prospect Drakkar Klose in the UFC Fight Pass Prelim section of the event.

1-2-1 since his exciting UFC bow back in the summer of 2016, Vannata accepted a short notice call to replace Michael Chiesa in an attempt at a Tony Ferguson meeting, and despite dropping 'El Cucuy' in the early stages of the bout, found himself wrapped in a trademark D'arce from the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

Pitted against wily Canadian John Makdessi in his second Octagon walk, Vannata had received huge acclaim for his losing display against Ferguson, and built on his momentum stopping Makdessi in the opening five minutes with a well disguised wheel kick.

Swedish kickboxing ace David Teymur met Vannata in a clash of two legitimate prospects and after an intense back and forth over three rounds, Teymur left Sin City with a unanimous decision.

The tough Bobby Green awaited Lando in his most recent Octagon appearance, battling to a split decision draw after Vannata was deduced a point for an illegal knee by the judges in the first round.

Interestingly, this is Lando's premier appearance after nursing an arm injury which sidelined him and prevented a pairing with fellow UFC 226 competitor Gilbert Burns.

Michigan native Klose will make his fourth walk in the promotion this weekend, after his premier career defeat to the aforementioned Teymur last time out.

Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, Klose made his UFC bow in his second home back in January of last year, scoring a convincing decision triumph over Devin Powell, displaying his slick striking over three comfortable rounds.

Facing the tricky English prospect Marc Diakiese next, a cautious display from both men drew massive critcism, with Klose wary of Diakiese's dynamic kicking game, with 'The Bonecrusher' keeping range from Klose's powerful hands. Often found in stalemate, Drakkar emerged the victor after a split decision win.

The meeting with the experienced striker that is Teymur arguably came too soon for the still developing Klose, as the younger Teymur brother picked him apart in a relatively worry free three round affair. Teymur and Diakiese are most certainly two very dangerous strikers, but stylistically, are very different.

In my opinion, Lando Vannata has faced much sterner competition since his move to the organisation, and his more well rounded attributes should see him overcome Klose over three rounds.

Lando Vannata via unanimous decision.
