Frankie Edgar is expected to make his bantamweight bow at UFC 244.

A bantamweight clash between top contender Aljaimain 'Funk Master' Sterling and division debutante Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar is reportedly targeted to land on November's UFC 244 card in Madison Square Garden. In the East coast clash, Serra-Longo Fight Team's Sterling locks horns with the Ricardo Almeida BJJ trained Frankie Edgar, as the former lightweight champion makes his 135-pound birth.

Uniondale native Sterling picked up a huge victory over the supremely talented Pedro Munhoz last time out at UFC 238 in a unanimous decision display, adding to his current win streak of four, while Edgar makes the move from featherweight after his UFC 240 headliner with Max Holloway in an unsuccessful pursuit of a second UFC championship. The well-rounded Sterling, who occupies the #2 rank at bantamweight, was campaigning for an interim title bout with Russian boxing ace Petr Yan while double champion Henry Cejudo defended his flyweight crown, but a meeting with the veteran Edgar now seems all but sealed. Edgar, who began his professional mixed-martial-arts career back in 2005, held the lightweight championship for almost two years, before dropping to featherweight, now will once more test lighter waters with the November move.

UFC 224 takes place on November 2nd. from Madison Square Garden in New York City, with three exciting clashes already confirmed. A flyweight showdown between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia will likely determine the next contender to Valentina Shevchenko's title, while at light heavyweight, exciting Brazilian finisher Johnny Walker meets championship hopeful, Corey Anderson. A heavyweight slugfest between one-time title contender Derrick 'The Black Beast' Lewis and former WSOF best Blagoy Ivanov has been confirmed. It's widely expected a welterweight title clash between fierce rivals Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington will feature at UFC 244, while Darren Till has teased a middleweight bow against Kelvin Gastelum, also at the event.
