Zabit vs. Kattar has huge implications at the top of the featherweight submit.
A featherweight meeting of rising contenders is expected to hold co-headlining status at UFC Fight Night Boston on October 18th. Zabit Magomedsharipov puts his undefeated promotion streak on the line against the heavy-handed Calvin Kattar in a three-round affair at the TD Garden. According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, the clash between the two title hopefuls will play second fiddle to the light heavyweight matchup between Dominick Reyes, and division debutante and former middleweight best Chris Weidman.

Zabit, a hugely dynamic striker and grappler secured a noteworthy victory in his last outing, claiming a unanimous decision victory over veteran knockout artist Jeremy Stephens. Extending his undefeated run in the promotion to five, the 28-year-old has highlight-reel submissions over Brandon Davis, Mike Santiago, and Sheymon Moraes and fought to a decision win in a back and forth clash with Kyle Bochniak. Currently occupying the #5 rank in a talent deep featherweight division, Zabit was widely expected to finally meet fellow striking ace Yair Rodríguez, with the Mexican youngster recently confirmed to meet the aforementioned Stephens in the main event of UFC Fight Night Mexico City on September 21st.

Fresh from a huge knockout victory over onetime title challenger Ricardo Lamas, Massachusetts native Kattar, can leapfrog his way into the top ten of the division with an eye-catching win over Zabit in Boston. With his single organization falter coming against Renato Moicano, Kattar has established himself as a legitimately dangerous boxer in the 145-pound pile.  Former Cage Warriors star Chris Fishgold has been swept aside via strikes along with the well rounded 'Hurricane' Shane Burgos.

Zabit vs. Kattar adds to the exciting list of featherweight meetings booked for the coming months, with Yair Rodríguez and Jeremy Stephens set to clash and a potential meeting between former title challengers Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung widely rumored towards the tail end of the year.

UFC Fight Night Boston takes place on October 18th. in the TD Garden, with the previously mentioned meeting of Dominick Reyes and Chris Weidman set as the main event. A flyweight clash between prospects Maycee Barber and Gillian Robertson has also been made official, while middleweight grappler Eric Spicely looks to find his first win in his latest UFC stint, against Brandon Allen.
