Report - Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling Rescheduled For UFC 259 On March 6th.

The bantamweight title matchup between incumbent division best, Petr 'No Mercy' Yan, and perennial contender, Aljamain 'Funk Master' Sterling reportedly has it's latest landing pad. Slated for rescheduling at UFC 259 on March 6th. -- the pairing joins two other title clashes on the card to bring a championship triple-header.

Originally set for UFC 256 on December 12th. to close off the promotion's pay-per-view schedule of 2020, the matchup was shelved with personal reasons resulting in defending champion, Yan's withdrawal from proceedings.

Fresh from his vacant title victory over former featherweight titleholder, Jose Aldo at UFC 251 in July last on 'Fight Island', promotional perfect striker, Yan eventually stopped the Brazilian with fifth-round ground-and-pound. 

For New York-born fan-favourite, Sterling, the streaking contender firmly stamped his title contender status at UFC 250 in June, stopping Elevation Fight Team mainstay, Cory Sandhagen with a highlight-reel, quickfire opening frame rear-naked choke win. News of the reworked title clash was first reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Mike Bohn and Nolan King

27-year-old puncher, Yan has won his first seven Octagon appearances on the trot, earning his shot at the vacant title via a third-round high-kick knockout over former WEC featherweight best, Urijah 'The California Kid' Faber at UFC 245 in December of 2019. 

Riding a five-fight rise, number-one ranked contender, Sterling added the above mentioned, Sandhagnen to prior high-profile victories over Pedro Munhoz, Jimmie Rivera, Cody Stamann, and Brett Johns. 

UFC 259 takes place on March 6th. -- with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion. Joining two other title clashes, Yan and Sterling share a main card with a featherweight title pairing of champion, Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes, and challenger, Megan Anderson. Expected to take headlining honours is a champion vs. champion matchup as light heavyweight best, Jan Blachowicz defends his throne against middleweight kingpin, Israel 'The Last Stylebender' Adesanya.
