A potential UFC heavyweight title-eliminator between decorated Dutch kickboxing ace, Alistair 'The Demolition Man' Overeem, and recent feature, Alexander 'Drago' Volkov has been booked for a UFC Fight Night event on February 6th. - where it will take main event honours. A location or venue for the event has yet to be determined by the promotion.

Both Overeem and Volkov were initially scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg back in April of last year, with the latter removed from the tie in favour of his compatriot, Aleksei Oleinik, who went on to drop a late first-round knockout.

Hoping to make one final push toward the UFC heavyweight summit, veteran contender, Overeem has won his last two on the trot, most recently scoring a fifth-round ground-and-pound knockout win over Augusto Sakai in the main event of UFC Vegas 9 in September.

Featuring on the main card of UFC 254 on 'Fight Island' in October, Volkov returned to winning ways following a smothering decision defeat to Curtis Blaydes, with an eye-catching, second-round, front-kick to the body stoppage of common-opposition, Walt Harris. News of the heavyweight headliner was first penned by Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA.

Overeem, 40 returned to the win column himself in the main event of UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May of this year, rallying in the second-frame to secure a high-kick followed by strikes stoppage of the above-mentioned, Harris.

Prior to the win, Overeem had looked impressive opposite knockout-ace, Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Fight Night D.C. in December last, before dropping a brutal, lip-splitting knockout defeat with just four seconds remaining in the fight. Upon reflection, it was noted that Overeem was ahead on all three judges' scorecards.

A former K-1 Grand Prix, Strikeforce, and DREAM champion, Overeem has scored a whopping twenty-five separate knockout wins, and a further seventeen submission successes.

Volkov, a former Bellator heavyweight titleholder has scored a 6-2 promotional record since his move to the UFC from M-1 Global back in November of 2016.

Prior to his decision shutout loss to Blaydes, Volkov had dropped a similarly hail mary knockout defeat to Derrick Lewis at UFC 229.

The 32-year-old has notched Octagon wins over Timothy Johnson, Roy Nelson, Stefan Stuve, Fabrício Werdum, Greg Hardy, and the aforenoted, Harris.
