An exciting flyweight matchup between recent title challenger, Alex Perez and the #7 ranked, Matt 'Danger' Schnell has been booked for UFC 262 on May 15th. -- with a location or venue for the matchup yet to be determined by the organization.

Hoping to rebound from the snapping of his three-fight winning streak at UFC 255 in November last, Perez dropped a short-notice flyweight title challenge to incumbent champion, Deiveson Figueiredo -- succumbing to a timely guillotine in the opening two minutes.

Featuring at UFC Fight Island 8 in January, Schnell rebounded from a knockout loss against Alexandre Pantoja, nabbing a split decision triumph over the veteran, Tyson Nam. News of the 125-pound pairing was first reported by MMA DNA reporter, Marcel Dorff

Team Oyama technician, Perez replaced former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt on short-notice, featuring in hist first promotional title tilt under the UFC's banner back in November at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.

A Dana White's Contender Series alum, Perez had scored a notable three-fight rise prior to his submission loss to Figueiredo, stopping the champion's compatriot, Jussier Formiga with a brutal flurry of calf kicks at UFC 250 in June.

Taking a unanimous decision win over Mark De La Rosa, the 28-year-old Californian would go on to submit Jordan Espinosa at UFC Fight Night Raleigh in January of 2020 with a first-round arm-triangle.

5-3 since his UFC tenure began back in December of 2016, 31-year-old submission ace, Schnell dropped knockout losses to Rob Font and Hector Sandoval, before embarking on an eye-catching four-fight rise, besting Marco Beltran, Naoki Inoue, Louis Smolka, and common-foe, Espinosa prior to his loss to Brazilian standout, Pantoja.
