Report - Mike Perry vs. Daniel Rodriguez Targeted For UFC Event On April 10th.

A welterweight matchup between polarizing striker, 'Platinum' Mike Perry and emerging contender, Daniel 'D-Rod' Rodriguez is in the works to feature at a UFC Fight Night event on April 10th. -- with a location or venue for the showcase yet to be determined by the promotion.

Michigan native, Perry enters the matchup off the back of a unanimous decision defeat to veteran finisher, Tim 'The Dirty Bird' Means at UFC 255 in November -- tipping the scales at 175.5-pounds. The defeat marked his third loss in his last four Octagon outings. 

3-1 In his promotional run since his Octagon bow against common-foe, Means back at UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho in February of last year, California native, Rodriguez suffered his first promotional blemish at UFC 255 like Perry, dropping a unanimous decision loss as he tackled former Cage Warriors welterweight champion, Nicolas Dalby. News of the matchup was first reported by Fighter Path reporter, Sergio Pineiro. 

Hoping to rebound to winning-ways at welterweight despite flirting with a potential move to the middleweight ranks, Perry, who along with his partner and corner person, Latory Gonzalez welcomed their first child in early January -- is set for a stay at the weight class.

A fourteen-fight veteran under the UFC's banner, the Flint puncher has amassed an even 7-7 record in his promotional run. Besting Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, Alex Reyes, Paul Felder, Alex Oliveira, and Mickey Gall -- Perry dropped losses to Alan Jouban, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Max Griffin, Donald Cerrone, Vicente Luque, Geoff Neal, as well as the above-mentioned Means. From fourteen professional victories, Perry has scored eleven knockout stoppages.

Rodriguez, 34 is set to make his fifth Octagon walk since debuting with the promotion this time last year. Getting off the mark and extending his undefeated streak to seven via a second round guillotine win over Means, Rodriguez added victories over both Gabriel Green and a knockout triumph over Dwight Grant prior to his decision loss to Danish veteran, Dalby. 

The UFC Fight Night event is scheduled to take place on April 10th. with a location or venue yet to be disclosed by the organization as of writing. In what could prove to be interesting viewing, on and off foe of Perry, former welterweight title challenger, Darren Till is slated to take headlining honours in a high-stakes matchup against the streaking Marvin Vettori at the event.
