Bellator MMA has officially announced the signing of Brazilian featherweight Cris Cyborg, to the biggest deal in female mixed-martial-arts antiquity. The promotion's head honcho Scott Coker took to Twitter this evening to officially confirm the news, along with a video from the former UFC, Invicta FC and Strikeforce champion herself.

Cyborg infamously ran down her UFC contract after almost four years in the promotion, with her relationship with Dana White dwindling on an almost fight by fight basis. After losing the 145-pound championship to Amanda Nunes at UFC 232, White claimed that the 34-year-old was "scared" to face Nunes again in the fear of finding herself on the wrong side of a second knockout. The Curitiba native ended her Octagon stint with a victory over the dangerous grappler Felicia Spencer in July and now links up with Scott Coker once again after the pair's time in the now-defunct Strikeforce promotion.

Cyborg adds to an already exciting list of featherweight contender's in Bellator's 145-pound division, with current champion, Canada's Julia Budd recently campaigning for a title clash with Cyborg upon her potential arrival; "I think it makes perfect sense. The best 145-pounders in the world are here, it makes sense if she comes over to Bellator. I hope she signs with Bellator but we'll see what she decides to do. I don't know what her career plans are right now."
