Cormier's retirement plans take a backseat once more as the promotion eye a rubber match.
UFC President Dana White has told in a recent interview with Barstool Sports, that the promotion will attempt to make a third clash between reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, and former 'champ-champ' Daniel 'DC' Cormier, once the Cleveland native recovers from injuries sustained in the rival's August meeting. Speaking ahead of the UFC 244 press conference in New York tonight, White had this to say; "Stipe is recovering from that fight. He's got some bumps and bangs from that fight. We're waiting for him to heal and then yeah, we're going to do the trilogy."

Ahead of the pair's recent rematch at UFC 241, Cormier had told how he was contemplating his retirement from active competition, and despite dominating the opening two rounds, lost for just the second time in his professional mixed-martial-arts career as Miocic rallied in the fourth round. The supposed planning of a rubber match between arguably two of the greatest heavyweights of all time certainly scuppers Cormier's retirement plans once more, and also prevents a rematch between Miocic and perreniel contender Francis Ngannou for the time being.

Ngannou, who recently told how he would like to secure one more fight before the close of the year, extended his win streak to three straight knockouts last time out, in a beat down of Brazil's Junior dos Santos. The Cameroonian is also in line to make his acting debut next year, as he joins the cast of 'Fast & Furious 9'.
